Beijing Olympics: Timing issues
Email timing issues
Just a short "personal" note to all email subscribers and regular readers - you may have noticed the timing issues we will inevitably have during our coverage of the Beijing Olympics...last night, our daily email containing a PREVIEW post of the men's Olympic Cycling Race went out about 9 hours AFTER the race was finished!
That happens because those of you who get the posts via email (you can sign up on the top left of the page, if you're not one of them) get them sent as a "batch", usually at about 10pm South African time. That means there's a lag and resultant confusion, so what we're going to attempt to do is change the timing so that the posts get sent out more or less on time - that way, you will hopefully get Preview posts BEFORE the event, and race reports immediately after!
Better yet, if you are an email subscriber, you might consider bookmarking the site for the next 2 weeks, because it's anyone's guess how reliable the FeedBurner email service will be - it's highly likely you're going to be getting emails too late, or sometimes not at all! The site will be up-to-date, though, and only email will be affected by this lag...
So we must apologize for this, but it's out of our hands a little! Hopefully it doesn't affect our coverage too much!
Speaking of coverage, below is our post race report on the Men's Cycling Road Race.

RSS feeds are so convenient. You might suggest RSS as an alternative (to email) for your readers, especially given the Feedburner issues.
Thanks for a great column.
